Kontraventil
Hvad er en kontraventil?
En kontraventil har som hovedfunktion den opgave at forhindre tilbagestrømning gennem en pumpe med risiko for forurening eller blanding af væsker, eller at forhindre baglænsløb af pumpemotorer. En kontraventil kan også, hindre tømning af ledninger og lignende. En kontraventil skal lukke i det øjeblik væskestrømningen gennem ventilen er lig med nul.
Kontraventiler kan opdeles i to typer
De frit bevægelige og de styrede kontraventiler. Som regel bruger man kontraventiler i rørledninger, hvor systemet kræver såkaldt envejs flow, eller til beskyttelse mod tilbageløb. Man kan også anvende en kontraventil til sikring mod brud på rør, og derved udløb af større mængde af væsker.
